Christ demonstrated that the ministry of the church must include deeds of mercy as well as proclamation of the gospel. It cannot be limited to Christians nor can it be an impersonal provision of resources. Instead, it is a voluntary expression of gratitude of God’s mercies. The following are examples of mercy ministries currently supported at Crossroads:
On the third Saturday of each month, Crossroads volunteers at the Storehouse, a food pantry located at 106 Broadway Blvd. NE. Join us from 8:30 to 11:00 at the side entrance on the south side of the building. Childcare is available; for more information, contact Mike McLaughlin at 505-345-9676.
Crossroads collects and assembles food bags for those individuals in need who cross our path. We are always seeking donations for non-perishable food items for this ongoing ministry (Vienna sausages, pork and beans – pop-top cans only – individual serving-sized fruit cups, cheese and crackers, water, granola bars and other non-perishable items are always welcome). For more information, contact Charlotte McLaughlin at 505-345-9676.
Crossroads supports Albuquerque-based East Central Ministries by restoring used bikes for kids and adults, and through tutoring grade-school children that come in touch with the East Central Ministries community. To learn how you can be involved, contact Mike McLaughlin at 505-345-9676.
DISCONTINUED UNTIL OCTOBER 2010
Each Wednesday night Crossroads provides hot meals for the homeless and hungry. If you would like to help serve meals (no food preparation required), please contact Sam Glaser and show up at Crossroads on Wednesdays at 5:00 PM. Serving and cleanup should be complete by 7:00 PM.
